![]() This was very welcoming and we felt truly valued as guests. ![]() Everyone is very friendly and cordial and we received a ton of "hellos". As I already stated the location of The Great Wolf Lodge is very convenient! On another note I must comment on the exceptional mannerisms by all of the staff. ![]() Both of these places are close to the hotel and easy to find. The kids however were somewhat scared of the animals that come right up to the car and look to be fed. The African Safari was also part of our plans. Make sure to bring a few extra dollars for a few extra rides. We also found the Merry Go Round Museum in downtown Sandusky which is really a neat place and very kid friendly. This was a tremendous hit with our kids!! They were amused by the talking tree and owl and talked about it all day long. We made certain to bring the kids down to the main lobby every night for the Tree show and the nightly story time. Although we wanted to take the kids to the free afternoon movie we never seemed to be able to fit it into the schedule. They also enjoyed the Kids Cabin which is a free acivity room with some kid friendly computers and various toys. Well anyways, the kids loved the waterpark and it was a struggle to get them to leave. There is also a nice size shopping mall next to the hotel along with a 24 hour Meijer a block away if you need to buy some stuff for the refrigerator. We called this our picknick time together. We found it very simple to pick up carry out from various restaurants and eat back in our room. ![]() You can find every major restaurant chain within a one mile radius of the hotel. The area that the Great Wolf Lodge is located in is extremely convenient. We packed our own snacks and juice boxes and had plenty of storage space in the room. We did not opt for any of the extras but chose the basic room with two double beds, a microwave and a small size refrigerator. We booked everything online and found this process rather simple. We had planned out this trip for several months. We have a three year old and a five year old. My wife and I just returned from a three day mini vacation with our two daughters. We did not eat at the restaurants, but we did order overpriced pizza one night in the room. Had an issue with mold on the shower curtain, but it was replaced quickly when we called. Microwave & small refrigerator were provided as well. The rooms were fairly large - standard 2 beds with a couch & TV area separate from the sleeping area. The waterpark is great - clean, well staffed & supervised. It has a lot to do, although geared toward the younger set - 2-8 yr olds. ![]() If you want a destination resort, this could be the place. Travelled with my wife & 2 kids ages 12 & 10. When searching for a hotel for our 4 night stay in Sandusky I happened upon a discount code for GWL that allowed me to stay here for $10 more per night than the #1 ranked Fairfield Inn (which is where I would've stayed based on ratings if GWL was at the rate I expected it to be at). My vacation plans do not typically include "destination resorts", but rather a place to sleep in between seeing the sights & going places. Typically this hotel & those of it's kind would be too expensive for my tastes. ![]()
